Privacy Policy
The Women's Economy is built on the idea that people should own what belongs to them. That includes your information. This page explains, without lawyer-speak, what we collect and what we do with it.
What we collect
We collect information in exactly two places on this site, and both of them are forms you choose to fill in.
When you nominate a business: the business name, the owner's name, her website and industry, plus your name, your email, and any note you leave.
When you offer to mentor: your name, email, industry, years in business, what you can help with, your availability, and your preferred format.
We also record which pledge commitments you selected. That's it. We don't run advertising trackers, we don't sell data, and we don't build profiles.
About nominations — please read this one
When you nominate a woman's business, you are giving us her information, not your own. We take that seriously.
Here's what happens: we review the nomination personally. If it's a fit, we send her one invitation to complete her own profile in The Mycelium™. If she doesn't respond, or tells us she isn't interested, that's the end of it. We don't add her to a list, we don't email her again, and we don't share her details with anyone.
If you've been nominated and you'd rather not be, email rene@thewomenseconomy.org and we'll delete the record. No explanation needed.
Where your information goes
Submissions are stored in a private spreadsheet we control, and we're emailed when one arrives. That's the whole system. The site is hosted by Netlify and the form data passes through Google's services — both of which have their own privacy practices.
We don't sell your information. We don't rent it. We don't hand it to advertisers. There is no newsletter you're being quietly signed up for.
How long we keep it
Nominations are kept while we're processing them and for a reasonable period after, so we don't accidentally re-invite someone who already declined. Mentor profiles are kept until you ask us to remove them.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email rene@thewomenseconomy.org. We'll act on it.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — including under the GDPR if you're in the EU or UK, or the CCPA if you're in California. We'll honor those requests regardless of where you're writing from.
Children
This site isn't intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top.
